It all started with my own journey to better my health and wellness. My passion for nutrition started to grow through the several hours of research that I was doing. I would find myself sitting on the couch while watching one of my favorite shows just googling, reading articles and blog posts about dietary theories, tips and studies on all things related to diet and health. I have always been intrigued by how certain foods have particular health benefits. The more I learned the more fascinated I was with holistic medicine specifically. I guess its the teacher in me that loves learning. While in college at The University of South Carolina I studied Elementary Education. At the time I wanted to become a teacher because one of my passions was teaching others. After realizing I didn’t want to be in the classroom, I still wanted to pursue my passion for teaching just in a different way. I furthered my education by enrolling at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition which is one of the worlds largest nutrition schools. I wanted to have a greater foundation and broaden my knowledge in all areas related to wellness.

I’ve had my own personal struggles with body image, anxiety, restrictive eating and hypothalamic amenorrhea. (I will write about this in greater detail in another post). Through my own experiences I learned so much about how the mind and body are connected and how bio-individuality plays a big factor in health. What works best for one person might not work for someone else. You might be wondering what exactly is Nutrishable? Nutrishable is a holistic nutrition, wellness and lifestyle coaching service. My role as a health coach is to support, guide and educate others on their own journey to better their health.

The word Nutrishable was made up after thinking of all words that relate to health, wellness and nutrition that you could think of. I knew I wanted to make up an invented word that did not exist to make it my own. I define Nutrishable as “having the power, skill and/or resources to make healthy lifestyle choices that nourish you on and off the plate. (Being “able”). Meaning the food you eat and all other areas of life from relationship, to sleep, stress, physical activity etc. My core beliefs to living a happy and healthy life stem from creating healthy habits that are sustainable. It’s a lifestyle, not a diet. It’s about implementing small changes over a period of time to help you reach your long term goals- whatever those may be. Who are we kidding? We all want to be in control of our own health!

“Having the power, skill and/or resources to make healthy lifestyle choices that nourish you on and off the plate”.

It’s all about progress not perfection as I like to say. I am still on my own journey towards healing but I have made significant strides to better myself and recover. Stay tuned to learn tips, suggestions, recommendations on all things related to health, wellness and nutrition!
